The number of memberships available in Sandy Run Scullers is limited. This limit is based on our small club organizational membership in USRowing and on our inventory of equipment.

Sandy Run Scullers offers two types of membership. These descriptions should help you determine which type of membership is applicable for you. The steps for applying for membership are listed below.

​Full Memberships 
are open to anyone who:
  • Has attained the age of 18, and
  • Is, in the opinion of such evaluators as SRS shall select, be judged competent to row, at a minimum, in a recreational single under normal circumstances on the Occoquan River and
  • Has been accepted for membership by a majority vote of a quorum at a regularly scheduled meeting, or by email vote
  • Or brings, in the opinion of the majority of Voting Members, special skills which promote the mission and objectives of SRS.
  • The cost of becoming a Full Member is a one time initiation fee of $200 plus annual dues of $300.
  • ​Dues are pro-rated if joining after certain dates in the season.


Associate Memberships
​are primarily geared toward high school and college individuals who can only row a limited period of time during the year.  Associate memberships are open to anyone who:
  • has obtained the age of 18 and meets the conditions mentioned above or is age 15-17 and the child of a Full Member of Sandy Run Scullers.
  • An Associate Member aged 15-17 who is a child of a Full Member must row with the Full Member parent.
  • Associate memberships are in effect for 3 months, if available, of the year in which membership is extended.
  • This type of membership is also open it to a limited number of individuals who have completed SRS rowing classes and/or have been judged competent to row. 
  • ​The total number of Associate Members is capped at 4 at this time.
  • The annual dues for an Associate Membership are $175.

SRS Membership Application
​​Requesting Membership in Sandy Run Scullers
  1. Download, complete, and submit membership form to [email protected].  
  2. Application will be forwarded to Training Director for verification of rower skill level.  If necessary, a check row will be scheduled.  The Training Director will contact the applicant directly to coordinate.  Upon verification of rower skill level, the application will be forwarded to the  Membership Director.
  3. The Membership Director will present the applicant for vote to all Voting SRS members.  
  4. Upon approval of membership, the new member will :​ 
  • pay membership fees to SRS Treasurer
  • complete USRowing waiver online
  • complete Safe Sport self attestation and any necessary training
  • receive and read New Member Handbook
  • receive and read the SRS Safety Handbook and take the online quiz
  • complete both the Emergency Care form and SRS Attestation form and submit to SRS Membership ​​      
    5.  Membership Director will add the new member information to SRS records and distribute an updated roster to all members.
